Why Marvel Changed Black Panther’s Name

Black Panther was introduced into Marvel Comics back in April of 1966. It just so happened around that same time a political party known as the Black Panthers came onto the scene in October of 1966. The party began to grow and with that had a political connotation with the name. Marvel was scared of being too political and decided to change their characters named.
